HATTO BEYERLE
In 1960 he founded the Wiener Solisten, a small
chamber orchestra with whom he has toured all over the
world and made numerous recordings. Since 1970 he has
played the viola in the Alban Berg Quartet, of whom he
is the founder together with Günter Pichler. The
Alban Berg Quartet, which has become one of the leading
groups of its kind, has won many national and international
awards, such as the Deutscher Schallplattenpreis (several
times), Artist of the Year (several times), Grand Prix
du Disque (several times), Japan Grand Prix du Disque
and so on. In 1982 he founded the Ensemble Sequenza, the
first French-German chamber music group with leading artists
from both countries. With the Vienna Chamber Ensemble
he has performed regular concert tours throughout Europe,
North America, Japan, Australia and other countries. He
has also recorded with Ponys, Canyon and Denon. As a teacher
with an international reputation, he has trained many
pupils, who, on several occasions, have won international
competitions such as the Deutscher Musikwettbewerb, Porthsmouth
(London), International String Quartet Competition, Banff
International Chamber Music Competition, Evian, Osaka,
Firenze etc. Among the winners are: Hagen Quartet (Austria),
Ÿsaye Quartet (France), Manfred Quartet (France),
Debussy Quartet (France), Trio Wozzeck (France), Vertavo
Quartet (Norway), Karol Szymanowski Quartet (Poland) and
Trio Jean Paul (Germany). Since 1982 he has held regular
courses in Viola and Chamber Music in Austria, Germany,
the United States, Switzerland and Australia. He has frequently
been a senior participant in the Marlboro Festival. Since
1985 he has been Professor of Viola and Chamber Music
at the Universities of Hannover and Basel. |
